“The Distribution Division realised that they had a gap in the learning of their Partners, as we have a great diversity of Partners and their ability to write or speak English – Partners who have English as a second language and Partners who are dyslexic or had a poor educational experience at school. The Operation asked that the Partners give one hour of their time, which would be supported by one hour of the businesses’ time. Sessions were put on that would suit the shift patterns of the Warehouse, eg. Training in evenings for Night Shift partners. Managers have seen Partners growing in confidence with both written and spoken English. Partners have returned to learning after taking initial qualifications, pushing themselves to take the next level. Managers have fully supported the programme, clearly demonstrating that they have seen the benefit of the sessions. It is important that we have the right Tutor who understands the learning needs of the Partners, as they have many as I stated above. Train Together understood this and provided tutors of high quality. The sessions have helped our Partners apply for job roles that they would not have felt confident to do so before. Next steps

We are currently beginning our third major programme across the distribution network, as Tanith Dolan explains: “The success of the English programme has meant that we have had Partners signing up for IT Skills/English again. I have no difficulty in finding Partners to take part in the training delivered by Train Together. They have been quick to react to our needs in Distribution and make sure the courses reflect our learning needs. I would recommend Train Together as we found the quality of training to be of a high standard.
