Level 3 in Early Years Educator

Early Years Educators play a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being, legislation and personal practice, child development and personal development. Early Years Educators are also required to ensure personal professional development is maintained and that play and learning at 0-5 years meets the play and child development needs to become school ready at 5+ years. 

NB: The GCSE rule has now been removed for EYE and has been replaced by Functional Skills in English and maths.

Additional Information

Location: Work Based

Duration: 15 – 18 Months

Entry Requirements: Employees should hold a contract of employment and be employed for a minimum of 16hrs per week.

Employee Progression: Employees could progress on to Management and Leadership development training.

Course Content

Example Units:

UNIT 1.4 WB – Promote Children’s Emotional Well-Being

The employee will develop a knowledge and understanding of theoretical perspectives on emotional well-being, analyse the role of the key people involved in the promotion of emotional well-being and understand how transition and significant events affect a child’s life. Furthermore, they will be required to demonstrate and evaluate their ability and implement activity to promote the emotional well-being of the children within their setting.

UNIT 3.10 WB – Promote Children’s Speech, Language and Communication

This unit will support the individual to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in the theory, current frameworks, practice, environments and activities that promote the development of speech, language and communication of children.


This qualification can be fully funded within an Apprenticeship framework and as a stand-alone qualification through the Advanced Learner Loan. Alternatively, this Level 3 is also available commercially as a stand-alone qualification.
