Improving the operational performance of the processing, production, assembly and reworking of materials and products within the manufacturing, logistics and supply chain sectors is critical to an organisation’s success. The Level 2 Performing Manufacturing Operations framework supports employees working within these roles to ensure that their personal performance are standardised to the organisation’s quality management systems and comply with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements.

Additional Information

Location: Work Based

Duration: 12 – 15 Months

Entry Requirements: Employees should hold a contract of employment and be employed for a minimum of 16hrs per week.

Employee Progression: Successful employees could progress on to a Level 3 framework in Logistics Operations or in Leadership and Management.

Course Content

Example Units:

UNIT 12 – Recording and Reporting Inspection and Test Results

This unit supports individuals to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that is required to record and report the results of inspections and test activities as defined by the operational procedures. Learners will be assessed on the accurate completion of quality control documentation and evidence their ability to meet procedure fully and communicate appropriately.

UNIT 18 – Finishing Products

The unit develops the knowledge and understanding to finish materials and products, enhancing appearance, increasing protection and improving safety properties.


This qualification can be fully funded within an Apprenticeship framework. Alternatively, it is available commercially as a stand-alone qualification.

At present, Level 2 qualifications are not eligible for Advanced Learner Loans.
