Transporting Goods by Road L2
At current, the Logistics and Supply Chain sector is facing a driver shortage. The Level 2 framework in Transporting Goods by Road is great solution to training and enabling new drivers to enter the workforce, be safety-minded from day one and develop their skills over the first 12 months of employment. All van, rigid and artic drivers will develop knowledge and understanding on health, safety and security, the delivery of excellent customer care, processing goods, manoeuvring the vehicle and protecting the vehicle and load as part of this framework.
Location: Work Based
Duration: 12 – 15 Months
Entry Requirements: Employees should hold a contract of employment and be employed for a minimum of 16hrs per week.
Employee Progression: Successful employees could progress on to Level 3 frameworks in Moving Freight by Road or Logistics Operations.
UNIT 21 -Drive the Vehicle on Public Roads in a Safe and Fuel Efficient Manner
This unit promotes safety on UK and European road and improves fuel efficiency by drivers within the organisation. Drivers will consider the use of vehicle controls that maximise both safety and fuel efficiency and will develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the factors that inhibit the safety of road users and reduce fuel efficiency.
UNIT 24 – Protect the Vehicle and the Load
The unit considers the physical checks drivers are required to carry out to ensure compliance with regulations and problems are identified. Drivers will evidence their knowledge of the procedures and associated documents involved within their inspection of goods and the vehicle, and demonstrate their knowledge of the factors and risks that can affect the security of the vehicle and the load throughout transportation.
This qualification can be fully funded within an Apprenticeship framework. Alternatively, it is available commercially as a stand-alone qualification.
At present, Level 2 qualifications are not eligible for Advanced Learner Loans.
