L3 IT User Skills

Good IT Management enables schools and settings to be forward thinking in the use of collaborative and learning technologies, train and develop their workforce in the use of specialist software and analyse the effectiveness of projects, data management and their website.

Level 3 learners will be supported to develop the IT system currently used and be effective at managing knowledge within the school in terms of IT fundamentals, processes and essential software. Employees will also improve and demonstrate their ability on specific software and/or hardware specific to their job role.

Additional Information


Location: Work Based

Duration: 12 – 15 Months

Entry Requirements: Employees should hold a contract of employment and be employed for a minimum of 16hrs per week.

Employee Progression: Successful employees could progress on to the Advanced IT Users framework.

Course Content

Example Units:

UNIT 311 – Using Collaborative Technologies

This unit supports the development of skills and knowledge to effectively manage and integrate the use of multiple ICT tools within your setting. The employee will consider how to manage system risk, permissions and data flow and solve moderate to complex problems with the use of collaborative technologies.

UNIT 318 – Database Software

This advanced unit considers the software tools and techniques required to manage complex databases, create queries against multiple selection criteria and produce reports through menus and short cuts. Employees will explore how to support, train and apply new software and techniques.

Costs/Funding

This qualification can be fully funded within an Apprenticeship framework and as a stand-alone qualification through the Advanced Learner Loan. Alternatively, this Level 3 is also available commercially as a stand-alone qualification.
