Level 3 Early Years Educator (EYE)

Early Years Educators play a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being, legislation and personal practice, child development and personal development. As such, you are also required to ensure that your personal professional development is maintained and that the play and learning you lead on at 0-5 years meets the play and child development needs to become school ready at 5+ years. For this qualification to count in the ratio at the childcare setting, you must also hold GCSEs in English and maths A*-C on completion of the Level 3 Diploma.

Additional Information

Location: Work Based

Duration: 15 – 18 Months

Entry Requirements: You should hold a contract of employment and be employed for a minimum of 16hrs per week.

Personal Progression: You could progress on to Management and Leadership development training.

Example Units:

UNIT 1.4 WB – Promote Children’s Emotional Well-Being

You will develop a knowledge and understanding of theoretical perspectives on emotional well-being, analyse the role of the key people involved in the promotion of emotional well-being and understand how transition and significant events affect a child’s life. Furthermore, you will be required to demonstrate and evaluate their ability and implement activity to promote the emotional well-being of the children within their setting.

UNIT 3.10 WB – Promote Children’s Speech, Language and Communication

This unit will support you to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in the theory, current frameworks, practice, environments and activities that promote the development of speech, language and communication of children.


This qualification can be fully funded within an Apprenticeship framework and as a stand-alone qualification through the Advanced Learner Loan. Alternatively, this Level 3 is also available commercially as a stand-alone qualification.
