Intermediate Level Transporting Goods by Road

Whether you are a new or experienced van, rigid or Artic driver, the Level 2 Driving framework will develop your knowledge and understanding on health, safety and security, the delivery of excellent customer care, processing goods, manoeuvring the vehicle and protecting the vehicle and load as part of this framework. Your Trainer Assessor will have years of experience behind the wheel, be knowledgeable about SaFED and Driver CPC, and understand your role as a professional driver.

Location: Work Based

Duration: 12 – 15 Months

Entry Requirements: You should hold a contract of employment and be employed for a minimum of 16hrs per week.

Employee Progression: You could progress on to Level 3 frameworks in Moving Freight by Road or use the framework to springboard a career in Management.

Example Units:

UNIT 21 -Drive the Vehicle on Public Roads in a Safe and Fuel Efficient Manner

This unit promotes safety on UK and European road and improves fuel efficiency by drivers within the organisation. As part of this unit, you will consider the use of vehicle controls that maximise both safety and fuel efficiency and will develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the factors that inhibit the safety of road users and reduce fuel efficiency.    

UNIT 24 – Protect the Vehicle and the Load

The unit considers the physical checks you are required to carry out to ensure compliance with regulations and problems are identified. You will evidence your knowledge of the procedures and associated documents involved within their inspection of goods and the vehicle, and demonstrate your knowledge of the factors and risks that can affect the security of the vehicle and the load throughout transportation.

Costs/Funding

This qualification can be fully funded within an Apprenticeship framework. Alternatively, it is available commercially as a stand-alone qualification.

At present, Level 2 qualifications are not eligible for Advanced Learner Loans.
