Level 3 NCFE Cache Early Years Educator Apprenticeship

Gain a diploma that demonstrates your skills in ensuring children learn, grow and become confident, healthy and safe individuals. Just as you support the people in your care to meet their full potential, this course is designed to help you develop your career with a nationally recognised qualification.

  • Qualification – Level 3 NCFE Cache Diploma Early Years Educator
  • Learning style – face-to-face, online and workplace coaching
  • Progression – develop your employability to work with children birth to 5 years
  • Duration – typically 18 months plus time to complete the end-point assessment

Off-the-job training

This course is available as an apprenticeship and as a standalone course.

As an apprentice you take 20% of your time at work to complete off-the-job training. It’s an innovative way for businesses to gain a multi-skilled workforce – you’ll be able to bring sector insights and the latest knowledge into your organisation.

We’ll support you to train during work hours and confidently evidence your off-the-job learning, supported and facilitated by your employer. You’ll immediately add value by applying your learning to your role – so it’s beneficial for both you and your employer.

What you’ll learn

On this early years course, you’ll cover the skills, knowledge and workplace practice required to positively influence a child’s development and behaviour. These range from healthy lifestyles to personal social and emotional development – as well as how to understand and implement legislation like safeguarding and inclusion. You’ll also explore working partnerships, professional development, physical activity and emerging Maths, English and cognitive skills.

How you’ll learn

The course combines workshops, teaching sessions and online learning. You’ll also have a one-to-one Trainer Coach (TC) who’ll visit you regularly in your workplace.

How you’ll be assessed

During the programme you’ll complete assignments, projects and longitudinal studies. You’ll put together a portfolio to evidence your skills.

If you’re taking the course as an apprenticeship, and at the end of your course you’ll complete a summative end point assessment. This includes a multiple-choice knowledge test and a professional discussion to support your portfolio – and is designed to check whether you’ve developed the required skills, knowledge and behaviours. The assessment is conducted by an independent body to make sure it’s impartial. For this course, your end-point assessment organisation is Training Qualification UK (TQUK).

Entry requirements

You’ll need to meet these requirements:

  • Resident in the UK/EEA/EU for the last 3 years
  • Meet module requirements through your employment in a relevant job role

You’ll also need to achieve these separate qualifications before or during the course to complete the programme.

  • Level 1 Award Functional Skills in English and/or Maths
  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First aid or Level 3 Award Emergency Paediatric First Aid on completion of course

Career progression

After successfully completing this early years course, you’ll be awarded the Level 3 Early Years Educator Diploma. With this qualification you’ll demonstrate your skills and enhance your employability.
