Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant Course

Build your CPD to evidence your advanced Teaching Assistant skills and responsibilities. Gain training that supports your responsibilities – such as taking classes on your own, covering teacher absences, and mentoring other Teaching Assistants at your school. You’ll also have a Level 4 qualification that’s equivalent to the first year of university-level study.

  • Qualification – Level 4 Certificate in Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

What you’ll learn

On this higher level Teaching Assistant course, you’ll cover professional knowledge and development for HLTAs, child development and wellbeing, and promoting positive behaviour. You’ll also explore special educational needs and working with individuals and groups – as well positive working relationships and curriculum planning, monitoring, delivery and assessment.

You’ll put together a portfolio of evidence from the classroom – including observations, witness testimonials and written assignments.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to meet these requirements:

  • A good level of English and Maths
  • Resident in the UK/EEA/EU for the last 3 years
  • Meet module requirements through a relevant job role

Career progression

After successfully completing this course, you’ll be awarded the Level 4 Certificate in Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – demonstrating your advanced-level skills and increasing your employability.
