Level 5 Children, Young People and Families Manager Apprenticeship

At Train Together, we offer the Community Practitioner pathway of this Level 5 apprenticeship. As an experienced practitioner, we’ll support you to lead and develop a cohesive team to deliver improved outcomes for children, young people and families. By creating long-lasting relationships in the community, your organisation will be able to operate more effectively, overcome challenges and meet strategic objectives.

  • Qualifications – Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and the Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Learning style – face-to-face, online and workplace coaching
  • Progression – develop leadership skills on a nationally recognised programme
  • Duration – typically 18 months

Off-the-job training

As an apprentice you take 20% of your time at work to complete off-the-job training. It’s an innovative way for businesses to gain a multi-skilled workforce – you’ll be able to bring sector insights and the latest knowledge into your organisation.

We’ll support you to train during work hours and confidently evidence your off-the-job learning, supported and facilitated by your employer. You’ll immediately add value by applying your learning to your role – so it’s beneficial for both you and your employer.

The programme combines delivery sessions, virtual learning masterclasses and workplace coach visits.

  • Undertake a Research Project within Services for Health and Social Care for Children and Young People
  • Use and Develop Systems Communication
  • Work in Partnership in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People Settings
  • Lead Practice in Promoting the Wellbeing and Resilience of Children and Young People’s Settings
  • Develop and Implement Policies and Procedures to Support the Safeguarding of Children and Young People
  • Lead and Manage a Team Within a Health and Social Care or Children and Young People’s Setting
  • Lead Practice that Supports Positive Outcomes for Children and Young People’s Work Settings
  • Champion Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Promote Professional Development
  • Develop Professional Supervision Practice in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People

There’s also a wide range of optional units you can discuss with your trainer and employer.
 

How you’ll be assessed

You’ll complete formative assessments throughout the programme, compiling a portfolio of evidence.

At the end of the apprenticeship you’ll complete a summative end-point assessment – designed to check whether you’ve developed the required knowledge, skills and behaviours. This is conducted by an independent body to make sure it’s impartial. For this course, your end-point assessment organisation is Training Qualifications UK (TQUK).

This includes a situational judgement test and a competence interview with an independent end-point assessor.
 

Entry requirements

You’ll need to meet these requirements:

  • Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent
  • Resident in the UK/EEA/EU for the last 3 years
  • Meet module requirements through your employment in a relevant job role
     

Career progression

After successfully completing this childcare apprenticeship programme, you’ll be awarded the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care. With this qualification you’ll enhance your employability.
