How you’ll learn

The course combines face-to-face workshops, one-to-one coaching and remote teaching sessions – as well as access to your own virtual learning environment, which you can access anywhere, any time.

The timescales are flexible – typically around 6 months, but you can choose your own duration and drop into open workshops that suit your schedule.

How you’ll be assessed

You’ll typically submit work every 4 weeks and you’ll have practical observations to complete.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to meet these requirements:

  • A good level of English and Maths Functional Skills or equivalent
  • Resident in the UK/EEA/EU for the last 3 years
  • Base knowledge and understanding of the fitness and leisure industry

Career progression

You’ll be awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training. You’ll have successful completed a course that’s endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA) and recognised by The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). You’ll also be able to apply for membership with CIMPSA and REPs to add to your professional status.

With this qualification you’ll enhance your employability – and you could move on to the Level 4 Certificate in Personal Training or the Level 4 Certificate in Strength and Conditioning, which are at an equivalent level to the first year of a university degree.
