Sports Coach

The level 4 Sports Coach is ideal for:

Community Officer, Sport Coach, Activity Leader, Teaching Assistant, Physical Education Teacher, Fitness Coach, Outdoor Pursuit Instructors and other relatable roles.

Sports coaches aim to provide meaningful and high quality learning, development, health and performance experiences. They support the achievement in talent, amateur and professional competition, enrich performance in local competitions, increase participation and social inclusion, raise educational standards, enhance wellbeing and drive social change.

Sports coaches can have a significant influence in local and national wellbeing and have a direct impact on local health services and improving life styles to be less sedentary. Sports coaches use extensive technical and tactical sports knowledge and skills to design and deliver coaching programmes that engage, motivate and evolve participants.

  • Lead and coaching inclusive and engaging physical activities
  • Education standards, Trends and Frameworks
  • Deliver appropriate coaching pedagogies and processes
  • Profile engagement and development needs
  • Psychological, physiological, social, emotional measures
  • Performance context, culture, politics and key stakeholder
  • Behaviours and leadership attributes

Qualification:

This course has three pathways: (1) High Performance Sports Coach, (2) Community Sports Coach and (3) Schools Sports Coach. On completion, apprentices will gain professional member of The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA).

Depending on your chosen pathway, a level 3 Sports Coach Diploma or a level 3 Certificate in Supporting The Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport with the option of a level 4 Diploma in Primary Physical Education Practice (is built in).

Duration:

The apprenticeship will take 18months to complete including end point.

Entry Requirements:

  • Good level of English and Maths
  • Resident in the UK/EEA/EU for the last 3 years
  • Ability to meet the programme modules through your job role
