Level 3 Early Years Foundation Teaching Assistant
Early Years Foundation Teaching Assistant
Experienced early years teaching assistants (TAs) play an invaluable role in the classroom. They provide 1-2-1 support for children who are making their first steps into formal education and prepare children for the full-time primary education. Early years foundation TAs support the classroom teacher and build fantastic relationships across the school with the children, fellow staff and parents/guardians. They apply the principles of play and child development, encourage a healthy lifestyle, promote child well-being, and support children to engage in learning.
The Level 3 Early Years Educator standard will support your CPD in the following areas:
- Child health and well-being including nutrition, healthy lifestyles, physical care, emotional well-being and supporting unwell children
- Legislation, frameworks and professional practice including safeguarding, promoting welfare and protection, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, and building working and professional relationships
- Play, development and learning for school readiness including modules on playwork, literacy, numeracy, the transition to Key Stage 1, speech and language development, and supporting children with additional needs.
To complete your Early Years standard, you will complete an end point assessment comprising of (1) a knowledge test and (2) a professional discussion underpined with a portfolio of your work including two longitudinal studies. The end point assessment will be completed with an independent assessor.
As part of the course, you will complete the NCFE Cache Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator).
