Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship

Join an exciting and innovative programme developed with employers to benefit you, your manager and your organisation. You’ll gain the skills you need to manage teams, projects, operations and performance – using key communication tools and identifying the needs and strategic planning required for an effective and forward-thinking organisation. You’ll also gain a nationally-recognised qualification to help you develop your career.

What you’ll learn

On this operations departmental management course, you’ll cover a variety of topics to help you contribute to and create business plans and strategies. We’ll support your understanding and practice of objective setting, continuous improvement, measurement, finance and data security. You’ll learn to manage projects, teams, change and talent – as well as supporting others through coaching and mentoring.

How you’ll learn

The programme combines specialist onsite delivery, workshops and directed learning – including virtual learning, masterclasses and workplace coach visits.

How you’ll be assessed

At the end of the apprenticeship you’ll complete an end-point assessment – designed to check whether you’ve developed the required skills, knowledge and behaviours. This is conducted by an independent body to make sure it’s impartial. For this course, your end-point assessment organisation is TQUK.

You’ll conduct a short multiple-choice test and present a portfolio of evidence. You’ll have a professional discussion about being an Operations/Departmental Manager with an external assessor. You’ll also have the opportunity to present a managed project.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to meet these requirements:

  • Level 2 English and Maths equivalent
  • Resident in the UK/EEA/EU for the last 3 years
  • Meet module requirements through a relevant job role

Career progression

After successfully completing this management course, you’ll be awarded the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. With this qualification you could move on to a Level 6 Diploma or a BSc/BA degree and work towards Chartered Manager status.

You’ll also be eligible to apply for membership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) – as well as with our partners Pearson. With these you’ll have access to class-leading resources, including complimentary mentoring, networking and ongoing support.
