Susan JonesHead of Delivery in Childcare and School Education

What makes you tick?

This is a perplexing question, but when studying for my child psychology degree and I had to analyse my traits regularly throughout the course, I have always been interested in people. Some may think this is nosey!! But I feel empathy and respect for the diversity of others.

Teaching, supporting, counselling and assessing learners has allowed me to engage students from entry levels to higher education in their chosen career aspirations. Helping others embrace study, develop and become more self-aware of future goals allows me to support their changing lives.

Even after 30 years, I still feel passionate about good quality childcare and ensuring all children can thrive. This has allowed me to develop my skills in training in more recent years and given me a great deal of pleasure in seeing learners build their careers for their future. A fulfilled life balance of work and home gives a joyful feeling and is probably the most essential element of ‘what makes me tick?’ If I had to say what makes me unique, which I’m not sure I am…., it would be my inclusive values of supporting each team member to reach their full potential and achieve.

What do you do at Train Together?

My role is Head of Delivery in Childcare and School Education; working for a private training organisation has allowed me to support trainers in this specialised field of qualifications we offer. I ensure the trainers are proficient in childcare settings, schools, play clubs and family services. As a team around the learner, we are meticulous in the delivery methods and approaches to the holistic training needs of each learner. My role advises, supports, and guides staff members and allows me to promote a cohesive team. I am an expert in the field and can offer information to those seeking training and employers interested in our qualifications.
